About me
Dr Subhasis Basu is a Consultant Musculoskeletal Radiologist with his private practice locations based in Cheshire, Manchester, Lancashire and London. His NHS base is at Wrightington, Wigan & Leigh NHS Foundation Trust.
Dr Basu graduated from St. Bartholomew’s and the Royal London School of Medicine & Dentistry, University of London. He then completed general Clinical Radiology and higher subspecialty training in Musculoskeletal (MSK) imaging at the then North West Deanery School of Radiology in Manchester. This was followed by further sub-specialist training during a one-year MSK and Sports Imaging Fellowship at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital, London.
Dr Subhasis Basu holds positions as visiting Professor at Manchester Metropolitan University and also as a Senior Honorary Lecturer at the University of Salford where he is passionately involved in the education of post-graduate students. He lectures at both national and international meetings as well as publishing in peer-reviewed literature. He is also an active reviewer to the journal Clinical Radiology. He enjoys professional memberships to the RCR, BSSR, ESSR and RSNA.
Outside of medicine, Subhasis pursues an active life alongside his family with a love for international travel and immersing himself into different cultures. He has a passion for music and sports, especially tennis, football and cricket. Any free time is rapidly taken up through his role as an international tennis umpire, which allows him to officiate at tennis tournaments around the world. In 2018, he successfully officiated at his 12th consecutive grand slam Wimbledon Tennis Championships.
Areas of interest
Dr Basu's regular practice involves reporting: X-rays (radiographs), CT scans, MRI scans including performing MR Arthrograms, performing Shoulder hydrodilatations and a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic MSK Ultrasound (USS) injections of both upper and lower limb body parts. A particular interest with the latter leads to common out-patient appointments for common small joint and soft tissue injections and utilising a novel technique for USS-guided percutaneous release of trigger fingers.
