About me

I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist, with nearly 30 years experience of working with people experiencing a range of distressing thoughts, feelings and sensations, and troubling behaviour. Prior to joining The Salisbury Practice, I worked within NHS specialist mental health services, mostly with people who had experienced complex or developmental trauma histories.

I have trained in a range of approaches, with particular expertise in acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and schema focused therapy. I aim to develop a shared understanding of the individual's experience, to inform a range of possible steps towards a richer and more fulfilling life.

I am a member of the British Psychological Society (BPS; Division of Clinical Psychology) and have professional registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), which requires me to undertake regular continuing professional development activities to ensure I continue to practise safely and effectively.

Areas of interest

I have found my approach especially suited to adults who have experienced long-standing emotional and relational difficulties, or who have tried many different ways of coping, and nothing seems to be working. I am also keen to work with those who lack a sense of self-worth or struggle to find meaning and purpose in their lives. In addition to ACT and schema therapy, I have developed an interest in methods involving 'parts work' e.g. Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS), and Inner Relationship Focusing, which I have found resonates with people experiencing inner conflict and self-sabotaging behaviour.

An additional service that I am very keen to offer is Ecotherapy. Instead of sitting indoors in a therapy room, I can offer one-to-one sessions outdoors in a natural setting. See The Salisbury Practice website for further details.
