About me

Choosing cancer treatments can be a complex and anxious experience.

I try to understand your priorities first and then put them together with everything we know about the latest clinical evidence so that you can make the best decision. I have access to and knowledge about the latest research and treatments, and I've learned from the experience of patients whom I've seen through their care.

I qualified from Cambridge University (preclinical medicine) in 1998 and Oxford University Clinical School in 2001, before completing my Oncology training at the Royal Marsden Hospital, London, and then Oxford.

Unusually, I have a DPhil in Radiobiology from Oxford University also, giving me insight into research and novel treatments and imaging.

I enjoyed learning advanced radiotherapy techniques in Australia, at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in Melbourne, and returned to Oxford as a consultant oncologist in 2014.

I treat Breast Cancer and Head & Neck Cancers and have NHS leadership roles in the Head and Neck Service and in the Radiotherapy Department in Oxford.

I am proficient in advanced radiotherapy techniques including IMRT, VMAT and IGRT, which are used to target radiation therapy and to minimise side effects.

I also use chemotherapy, biological therapy, hormone therapy and immunotherapy, choosing the best targeted approach based on molecular and genetic tumour markers in light of proven clinical evidence.

I also have an interest in Clinical Ethics and Medicolegal investigation.
