About me

I am a senior accredited psychotherapist and supervisor, trained in individual psychotherapy, trauma therapy, internal family systems, bereavement counselling and CBT. I have worked with clients for over 19 years: in the NHS, in Higher Education and in private practice. I was Head of Counselling and Mental Health for a large University, managed psychotherapeutic services for adults, children and young people in Brighton and have worked in private practice helping people with anxiety, depression and other forms of difficulties for a long time. I have been awarded senior accredited status by the BACP and have published for the BACP and others.

Together, we explore current patterns and how they impact on your life and your relationships. Once you have become more fully aware of them and understand how you may actively maintain them, you can start experimenting with change. In the safety of the therapeutic relationship you may be willing to take the risk to express yourself more fully and feel yourself expand. From that place of awareness you can experiment with different behaviour. At that point you may see real change in your relationships and your environment and I will support you in finding a way to integrate this new way of being into your life.

I have witnessed many times what a profound difference this way of working can make to peoples' lives. That is why I am deeply passionate about my work.

If you are seeking support because you feel stuck, down, anxious or distressed, you are not alone. One in four of us experience a mental health problem in any one year.

There is no possibility of creating a life that doesn’t have change, loss and heartbreak in it. The reality is that in our shared human experience we all encounter times of distress. Sometimes friends and family can offer support in difficult times and sometimes we may nevertheless choose to look at underlying patterns with a qualified therapist. It does not need to be an either-or-decision; you can choose both.
