About me

Dr Shaw is a Consultant Cardiologist working in Manchester with a specialist interest in Heart Failure and Cardiomyopathy. He runs a private clinic at The BMI Alexandra Hospital in Cheadle. Dr Shaw is an international expert in Advanced Heart Failure and a regular speaker at both national and international conferences. He has the responsibility for managing the most complex and serious heart failure cases across the North West in his NHS work at Wythenshawe Hospital, Manchester.

Dr Shaw is a very capable general cardiologist, able to assess all common cardiovascular complaints including shortness of breath, blood pressure, high cholesterol, blackouts, chest pain and overall cardiovascular risk.

Dr Shaw is very approachable and particularly excels with his ability to communicate, building good rapport with patients even in difficult or worrying circumstances. He studied at Manchester University and has lived in the area all his life. His extensive training includes a PhD in addition to his medical qualifications. In 2009, Dr Shaw was proclaimed Manchester University's 'Postgraduate Student of the Year' in recognition of his internationally published research.

He has two young daughters and is a keen golfer (handicap 6).
