About me
Professor Tarunya Arun is a highly experienced Consultant Neurologist offering specialist assessment and management of a broad range of neurological conditions at The New Foscote Hospital. She is also an Associate Professor of Neurology and an NIHR clinician scientist.
She completed her specialist neurology training in the Oxford Deanery, followed by subspecialist training in neuroinflammatory disorders in Oxford and London. She was awarded a doctorate from the University of Oxford for her research using advanced MRI techniques to study brain function in multiple sclerosis.
Prof. Arun has over 15 years of clinical experience and specialises in complex neurological conditions, with particular expertise in neuroinflammatory disorders, including multiple sclerosis and neurosarcoidosis. She has extensive experience in general neurology and is known for her thorough, thoughtful, and patient-centred approach, with a strong emphasis on clear communication and shared decision-making.
Alongside her clinical practice, Prof. Arun holds a number of national leadership roles. She is Clinical Lead for the Multiple Sclerosis service at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust and Research and Development Lead for Neurology. She is Chair of the NHS England Rare Diseases Consortium for Neurosarcoidosis, Co-Chair of the Association of British Neurologists Advisory Group for MS and Neuroinflammation, and a member of the NHS England Clinical Reference Group for Neurology. She also serves as a clinical advisor to NICE.
Her research focuses on clinical trials and real-world studies in multiple sclerosis and neurosarcoidosis. She is Chief Investigator for NeuroSarc UK and Principal Investigator for several multicentre clinical trials, and has published widely in peer-reviewed journals.
Prof. Arun is actively involved in medical education and training, supervising medical students and junior doctors, and mentoring trainees preparing for postgraduate examinations. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians.
