About me

Having studied Medicine at New College, Oxford University (BM, BCh, MA), Ms de Sousa returned to where she grew up, the North West for her surgical training in 1996. Always with a focus on Breast Surgery, she has worked with some of the leading plastic and breast surgeons in the region. Between 2001 and 2003, she carried out molecular research into breast cancer at St Vincent’s Hospital, Melbourne Australia, to gain a Doctorate of Medicine (DM), and has presented her work nationally and internationally. During her Fellowship at the prestigious Nottingham Breast Institute in 2013, Ms de Sousa worked closely with innovative, specialist breast and plastic surgeons. Following a successful time as Consultant Breast Surgeon at the Oxford University John Radcliffe Hospital, Ms de Sousa chose to return to the North West to pursue her career at home. She works at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital NHS trust and The Alexandra BMI Hospital in South Manchester.
In addition, she has teaching roles on national oncoplastic breast surgery courses and within the University of Liverpool and Manchester. She is an active member of the Association of Breast Surgery Aesthetic (cosmetic) committee and is also on the faculty of the Aesthetic Surgery Diploma at the University of East Anglia. She is also an inter speciality member of the British Association of Plastic Surgeons (BAPRAS).

Ms de Sousa’s strengths lie in her dedication to excellence within all fields of breast surgery. She performs breast cancer surgery, breast reconstruction, revisional surgery, risk-reducing surgery, fat transfer, nipple surgery and cosmetic surgery for large, small, droopy and asymmetrical breasts. She also treats male breast problems.
