About me

I am a Consultant Colorectal and General Surgeon working across both sites of Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust (MTW). I was appointed permanently in November 2014 having worked as Locum Consultant there since March 2014. Between May 2016 and November 2020, I was appointed as the Lead Clinician for the department of Colorectal Surgery at MTW, leading the team through the enormous challenges presented by the COVID pandemic.

I have specialist expertise in laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery.

I graduated from the University of Birmingham Medical School in 2002 and completed my higher surgical training in the London Deanery in 2013. At the end of my training I was awarded one of just 6 prestigious Ethicon Laparoscopic Colorectal Fellowship available nationally, giving me broad experience in advanced laparoscopic (key-hole) techniques. I undertook this 6 month Fellowship at the internationally renowned laparoscopic training unit at Colchester University Hospital.

I offer my patients the full range of in-patient and out-patient colorectal and general surgical services including emergency surgery. I pride myself on providing a personalised service to my patients with strong emphasis on effective and empathic communication.

I am also a keen proponent of medical education and in September 2020 I was appointed as a Senior Lecturer at the brand new Kent and Medway medical school based in Canterbury, which opened its doors to the first cohort of students in September 2020. I oversee the teaching of surgery and perioperative care to the entire cohort of students in year 3.
