About me
Mr Rajiv Pillai is a highly experienced Consultant Urological and Robotic Surgeon with a specialist interest in urological cancer surgery and minimally invasive techniques, including robotic and laparoscopic surgery. He is based at Colchester General Hospital within the East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust (ESNEFT) and also practices privately at The Oaks Hospital, Colchester.
Mr Pillai is the Urology Cancer Lead at the Colchester unit and the Robotic Urology Lead for ESNEFT, playing a key role in developing advanced robotic surgical services in the region. He is also an Honorary Consultant at Mid and South Essex NHS Trust and leads the urological component of complex robotic endometriosis surgery.
He has extensive experience in the management of kidney, bladder and prostate cancers, offering modern minimally invasive and robotic surgical approaches aimed at improving recovery times and surgical outcomes.
Alongside his clinical work, Mr Pillai is actively involved in medical education, surgical training and research, contributing to regional and national urology training programmes. He is a Robotic Teaching Faculty member in the East of England and an Honorary Visiting Lecturer at Anglia Ruskin University.
