About me
I have been a Consultant Gastroenterologist at Northampton General Hospital since 2010 after attaining a dual certificate of completion of training (CCT) in Gastroenterology and General Internal Medicine. My consultant training included various rotational posts in teaching and District General Hospitals in the East Midlands (South) deanery. I also undertook a 12 month advanced endoscopy fellowship in JAG (Joint Advisory Group on GI Endoscopy) accredited National Endoscopy training centre based in Northern General Hospital, Sheffield.
I was awarded a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education from the University of Nottingham in December 2010.
I am also an elected Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, London.
I provide a comprehensive Gastroenterology consultation in various aspects of this field and my specialist interests include Endoscopy, Bowel Cancer Screening and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).
I regularly undertake diagnostic and therapeutic upper and lower GI endoscopic procedures with a special interest in screening colonoscopy procedures. I am JAG accredited colonoscopist for the National Bowel Cancer screening programme (BCSP) with on-going commitment to undertake high quality colonoscopy procedures which are audited and peer reviewed nationally. Adenoma (polyps which are precursors for bowel cancer) detection rate (ADR) is a widely recognised quality indicator which is reported to be associated with low future risk of bowel cancer development after a high quality colonoscopy. My ADR is consistently >50% which is significantly higher than national quality target (>40%) in BCSP. My patient comfort scores are also high standards with >90% patients experiencing no or mild discomfort during colonoscopy procedures. My Caecal Intubation rate remains in line with national Key Performance Indicators (KPI) requirements (>92%) for BCSP.
