About me
I am a psychoanalytical psychotherapist with experience of working in private practice and within the NHS.
Some of the reasons people come to see me are to get help with anxiety; depression; emotional difficulties brought on by troublesome relationships; family issues; work stress; bereavements; or concerns about an abusive or a traumatic past.
Psychoanalytical psychotherapy aims to help people understand themselves and their difficulties at a deeper level by thinking about their patterns of experience and the connections between the present and the past. Through understanding these connections and patterns, psychoanalytical psychotherapy can help a person develop their own sense of what changes are possible and come to terms with what can't be changed.
What happens at the first meeting?
The purpose of this first session is to give us a chance to meet each other and get a sense of how we might work together. We will talk about what brings you to therapy and what you are hoping to resolve or achieve. You have an opportunity to ask any questions you might have about the different therapy options. At the end of this session you will hopefully have the information you need to help you decide what is the next step for you.
