About me

BIOGRAPHY

I am a Consultant Oncoplastic Breast and General Surgeon. I am currently leading the Breast Surgery Unit at the North Middlesex University Hospital and also run General Surgery clinics.

I graduated from Leeds University in 1999, worked in Cardiff where I completed my Breast Surgery Training. I then moved to London where I joined the Institute of Cancer Research and worked on matched pairs of Primary Breast Cancer and Distant Metastasis. I also worked in Birmingham, Coventry and Sandwell where I covered both Breast and General Surgery; I decided to move back to London to be with my family. I then joined the BARTS Group at the Royal London Hospital.

I undertook an International Fellowship in Milan, at the world-renowned Institute of Umberto Veronesi, where I made valuable relationships to enhance the International connections in Breast Surgery. I am the Lead for Education at the London Cancer and an ARCP panelist for trainees.

After joining the North Middlesex Hospital, I actively worked towards the set-up of Oncoplastic Services and I performed the first breast reconstruction at this Trust in March 2014. The reconstruction rate is well above 50% compared to the National level of 20%, with every patient being offered the best options. I look after both male and female patients. Breast surgery is changing, and the perception of patients is not just getting their cancer treatment but at the same time still ensuring their beauty and wellbeing is maintained.

I also hold General Surgery clinics and my area of interests are laparoscopic cholecystectomies, hernias, laparoscopic open surgeries, complex abdominal wall, piles, skin lesions,lumps and bumps.

I live in London with my husband and two children, together we enjoy car racing, playing tennis, playing rugby and watching Formula 1.

I am also an active member of the Fancy Foundation Charity and my long-term plan is to set up a Breast Charity in Kenya.
