About me

Mr Alexis Schizas qualified from Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals in 1999. His higher surgical training was undertaken in the South East London Region. His research was performed at St Thomas Hospital and was awarded his MD in 2011.

He was appointed as a Consultant Colorectal Surgeon to Guys and St Thomas' Hospitals in 2011. His specialist interests are in advanced primary, recurrent colorectal cancer, anal cancer surgery, laparoscopic colorectal surgery and pelvic floor pathology (bowel incontinence, defaecatory difficulties and prolapse).

He strives for the highest quality of patient care, teaching, presenting and publishing, locally, nationally and internationally.

In 2015 he was elected as the colorectal representative to the Standardising Steering Committee and in 2016 onto the Publications and Communications Committee for the International Continence Society.

He was also the laparoscopic and enhanced recovery colorectal lead for the London Cancer Alliance. He is currently chair of the South East London ACN for colorectal cancer and Service Lead for Colorectal and Emergency General Surgery at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust..
