About me
Breda Collins, Reg. MBACP (Accredited)
Integrative Counsellor
There are times in life when things can feel overwhelming, confusing, or difficult to manage alone. You may feel stuck, unsure which way to turn, or simply need someone who will truly listen and understand. At these times, counselling can offer you the space to pause, reflect, and begin to move forward.
As a professionally qualified and accredited counsellor, I provide a warm, confidential, and non-judgmental environment where you can safely explore whatever is troubling you.
My approach is integrative, which means I draw on a range of therapies including Person-Centred Counselling, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Solution-Focused techniques to suit your individual needs. There is no single way to work that fits everyone; together, we will find what works best for you.
You may come to counselling because you feel anxious, low, or unsure about yourself, or perhaps because of difficulties in relationships, work, or past experiences. Some people seek therapy during times of loss or major change; others come to better understand their thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. Whatever your reason, my aim is to support you in developing greater awareness, self-belief, and the confidence to make meaningful choices in your life.
What You Can Expect: Our first meeting is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and explore what brings you to counselling. When we begin our work together, we will discuss your goals and focus on what matters most to you. Therapy can be short-term or long-term depending on your needs and circumstances.
Counselling can bring about change in different ways. For some, progress feels quick and noticeable; for others, it may unfold more gradually. If you live with complex or ongoing challenges such as anxiety, depression, eating difficulties, or other mental health conditions, we can work at a pace that feels safe and manageable for you, building strength and stability over time.
How I Work: My role is to help you find clarity, new perspectives, and the tools to manage life more effectively.
I offer:
A compassionate, respectful, and confidential space
A collaborative, client-led approach you set the pace and focus
Support in building resilience, confidence, and self-understanding
Clients often say that counselling helps them feel calmer, more in control, and better equipped to handle challenges. Even small changes in awareness can lead to meaningful shifts in how you think, feel, and relate to others.
Areas I Work With:
Stress, anxiety, depression, and low mood
Work-related pressure and burnout
Relationship issues, family difficulties, and loss
Self-esteem, confidence, and identity
Loneliness, isolation, and bullying
Spirituality, personal growth, and cultural issues
Abuse, trauma, and anger
I work with individuals (adults and 16 years onwards) offering a safe and caring environment where you can feel safe, speak freely and feel genuinely heard.
My Vision and Mission: My vision is to be recognised as a responsible and ethical counsellor who practises with integrity, accountability, and care. My mission is to empower individuals to manage difficulties more effectively, build confidence, and create meaningful change in their lives always working within the BACP Ethical Framework.
About Me: My background is in nursing and counselling. My nursing taught me the importance of compassion, dignity, and respect which guides my work. I am committed to ongoing professional development, ensuring that I offer the highest standard of support to clients. Outside my work I use music, singing and walking and spending time with family and friends bring balance to my life.
Venue: Sessions take place in a warm, welcoming, and confidential setting. Appointments are held weekly and can be arranged with flexibility to suit your needs.
