About me
I practice as an 'Integrative' counsellor. My learning has been developed across a number of psychological theories and whilst I call on these theories in my work my leaning is more towards a humanistic approach in the belief that, given the right support and understanding, people are able to explore and find their own resources to cope with their difficulties. I also regard myself as 'user centred' - meaning that with each client a mutually agreed contract focused on the clients' agenda is formed.
My counselling framework is based on being aware of the type of relationship that is most needed for each client as it is the relationship that is of paramount importance as it enables therapeutic healing to take place. I believe that counselling can help as problems have their inception in relationship, so the therapeutic relationship is the crucible for change and growth.
A counsellor needs to be willing to meet and understand 'both the person who is before them and the hidden one who as yet has not been allowed to be integrated or expressed
