About me
Mr Bhatta offers a streamlined pathway for micro-incisional phacoemulsification cataract surgery & comprehensive glaucoma care to patients in & around Aberdeenshire. He has joined as a Consultant in the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary in 2017 after having successfully worked as a Consultant in the Hull & East Yorkshire Eye Hospitals since 2013. Patient-centred individualised long term glaucoma care utilising modern diagnostic techniques for monitoring purposes & treating glaucoma patients with conventional & newer glaucoma surgeries (including 'MIGS' microinvasive glaucoma surgery like the iStent inject and the Xen implant) and SLT laser procedures are his areas of expertise.
Following successful completion of his ophthalmology training in the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals, Mr Bhatta has completed one year of advanced subspecialty training in Glaucoma subspecialty in the St James’s University Hospital, Leeds. He also completed a Master’s degree in Ophthalmology from the University of Calcutta, India.
He regularly delivers scientific presentations including invited talks in regional & national meetings & has publications in scientific journals. He has held managerial post of the Clinical Governance Lead & educational post of the Royal College tutor previously and holds an Honorary Lecturer post with the University of Aberdeen presently. During his tenure in Hull, the department has been the recipient of the International Glaucoma Association award in 2016 for the best glaucoma unit voted by UK patients.
