About me

Miss Sharmistha Guha is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at West Middlesex Unniversity Hospital, Chelsea and Westminster NHS Trust and currently is the Clinical Director for O&G at West Middlesex Hospital.
She graduated from India in 2000 and began her career in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi. She moved to London in 2004.
She trained in the Northwest Thames region of London Deanery. She developed her special interest in early pregnancy and emergency gynaecology and took time out of her training to perform research in this field at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. She has carried out several multicentred early pregnancy research projects including study in pregnancy of unknown location and has several papers in peer reviewed journals to her credentials. She is a regular speaker in many national and international forums. Miss Guha is proficient in performing early pregnancy and gynaecology ultrasound. She did Post graduate diploma in gynaecology and early pregnancy ultrasound from King's College London in 2011.
Miss Guha has a wide and extensive clinical and surgical experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. She has done advanced training in the following specialist skills module:

» Acute gynaecology and Early pregnancy care
» Advanced Labour Ward Management

West Middlesex University Hospital is a busy district general hospital which has recently merged with Chelsea and Westminster NHS Trust. Approximately, 5000 babies are born here every year. Miss Guha has a varied work load with weekly gynaecology clinics, scan sessions at Early pregnancy unit and gynaecology scans, antenatal clinics and colposcopy clinics. She does theatre lists and labour ward sessions every week. Practising in this busy NHS hospital helps Miss Guha to maintain and develop her skills. Miss Guha engages and continues to publish research work and this helps to keep her knowledge updated and helps her to practice evidence based medicine.

Clinical Director, Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, West Middlesex Hospital
Clinical Lead for the Termination of Pregnancy and Gynaecology Risk Management service at the West Middlesex University Hospital.
Regional RCOG preceptor for training in Acute gynaecology and Early pregnancy – overall incharge of trainees pursuing specialist training in this module in Northwest London.
RCOG preceptor for Benign Gynaecological Surgery (Open & Laparoscopic) – Recognised as being able to provide training to the trainees pursuing specialist training in this module.
Miss Guha provides a comprehensive range of elective and emergency gynaecological services including gynaecology ultrasound, early pregnancy care, colposcopy and benign gynaecological surgery.

I am a semi professional classically trained Indian music singer. I have continued my training in the same and continue to perform in public events.
My other interest is to organise events and I have organised 6 large scale charitable fund raising events for women's health on behalf of RCOG India Liaison Group for which I am an active member.
I have done extensive charity work in India where I have trained midwifes and nurses about emergency skills and drills in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
