About me
Dr Richard Campbell is a Consultant Rheumatologist with over 15 years of specialist experience in rheumatology. He sees patients privately at: Chelsfield Park Hospital, Orpington (Kent / Bromley) and The Sloane Hospital, Beckenham (South East London). Alongside his private practice, he works as an NHS consultant within King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
His NHS clinical work is based at Orpington Hospital and Princess Royal University Hospital where he has been lead clinician. He diagnoses and manages the whole spectrum of different types of arthritis and musculoskeletal diseases. He also works in specialist services at King's College Hospital, including a complex rheumatology and lupus clinic.
Approach to Care
Dr Campbell understands that arthritis symptoms such as joint pain, stiffness and fatigue can significantly affect quality of life.
Many patients seek his opinion after a period of uncertainty, sometimes with ongoing symptoms but no clear diagnosis. His approach combines clinical expertise with careful listening, with the aim of providing clarity, reassurance and a structured treatment plan.
Consultations are thorough and unhurried, allowing time to fully explore symptoms, review previous investigations and discuss the most appropriate next steps.
What Patients Can Expect:
 Consultant-delivered care at every stage
 A comprehensive and structured assessment
 Clear explanation of diagnosis
 Evidence-based treatment recommendations
Prompt clinic letters and communication with the GP
Dr Campbell aims to ensure that patients feel fully informed about their condition and confident in the management plan agreed.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr Campbell has held leadership and educational roles within the NHS. He has previously served as Chair of the Consultant Committee at Princess Royal University Hospital and contributes to postgraduate training through his role on the London Deanery Specialist Registrar Training Committee.
This breadth of experience allows him to provide careful, accurate diagnosis and up-to-date, evidence-based treatment across a wide range of rheumatological conditions.
