About me
Dr Shariff is a trained specialist in gastroenterology, liver and pancreatic disease and his current NHS practice is based at West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust where he is Clinical Lead for Gastroenterology. He has also practiced as an Honorary Consultant at the Royal Free Hospitals Foundation Trust in Hepatology (Liver medicine). He consults on all aspects of gastroenterology including dyspepsia, irritable bowel syndrome and diarrhoea and has a sub-speciality interest in liver and pancreatic disease. He also practices basic and advanced endoscopy including gastroscopy, colonoscopy, ERCP and endoscopic ultrasound.
In the outpatient clinic, Dr Shariff takes time and care to understand your symptoms and has previously received excellent feedback from patients and colleagues. He is an accredited endoscopist (JAG) and has very good colonoscopy comfort scores.
Dr Shariff qualified in 2001 from Oxford University where he was awarded a prestigious Nuffield Scholarship in Medicine and undertook his postgraduate clinical training at the Hammersmith, King's College and Royal London hospitals. In 2008, he was appointed as a Clinical Research Fellow at Imperial College and awarded a PhD in 2012. He has published a number of articles in peer reviewed journals and presented research at National and International conferences. He maintains an active interest in clinical research, with a focus upon liver and pancreatic disease.
