About me

Coming into counselling and psychotherapy for the first time can feel nerve racking. Sometimes, clients don't know the real reason why they've chosen to come for help to understand how and why they keep meeting dead ends, perhaps in their career or relationships. In the 24 years I have worked as a therapist, in the NHS for private insurers, EAP schemes and my private clinic, I have met clients who just want to understand themselves more, create happier relationships - or even learn how to make relationships happier. As a couples counsellor, I understand that the basic ingredient in a working relationship is Communication. No second guessing! Straight forward expectations expressed - and healthy boundaries with assertiveness and the word 'no' as an equal option to 'yes.'

Perhaps you've experienced a loss, or can't understand why the same negative experiences are on a repeat button. Depression and anxiety have origins in a low self-esteem, self-worth, poor self image and personal identity and are often at the root of repeating relationship issues, feeling 'stuck' in your life, or simply not knowing what you want with your choice of career.

Self-belief increases self-confidence - finding the confidence to ask for what you want is the path to learning to be assertive and discover where your boundaries are with others and situations. Indecision with making life choices leads to feeling out of control. Psychotherapy gives you the tools to express who you are, raising confidence and self-belief.

Common difficulties clients experience include loss, eating disorders, feeling 'stuck' in life, OCD and associated disorders, along with social and performance related anxieties.

Self-belief is essential to feel confident that whatever life difficulties you experience, you have the inner resources and resilience to adapt to change and create the life you want.

Whatever the reason you choose to come for psychotherapy you can discover your potential talents, reassess what you want and expect in relationships..

Therapy is a journey - I travel with you as you discover yourself and your potentials on your journey through life.
