About me

Dr Tim Lockie went to University College School in Hampstead before training to do medicine at Edinburgh University. During this time he undertook an intercalated degree in psychology (BSc) gaining First Class honours. After graduation, he worked at the Old Royal Infirmary in Edinburgh before moving to London for his specialist cardiology training at St Thomas’.

With an interest in ischaemic heart disease and re-perfusion he undertook a PhD at KCL, winning the Young Investigator Prize at SCMR in the United States. He then spent a year at the Academic Medical Centre in Amsterdam on a BHF/EAPCI training fellowship specialising in advanced percutaeous coronary interventions (PCI). He then completed his PCI training back at St. Thomas’. Dr Lockie is now working as a consultant cardiologist at the Royal Free and has been appointed honorary Senior Lecturer in Cardiovascular Science at UCL. In 2018 Dr Lockie was elected as a Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology (FESC) in recognition of clinical and academic excellence.

He specialises in complex coronary stenting, primary angioplasty for acute heart attacks, intravascular imaging and coronary physiology and has an ongoing interest in cardiovascular research being the principle site investigator for several large, multinational studies. He is the current clinical lead for coronary revascularisation in the Royal Free Trust
