About me

Whether you are taking the first brave steps in finding help with issues that you have identified, struggling to discover what the problem is, or maybe at a stage in your life when you are ready to look at issues that have been around for longer than you can remember, I offer a professional, compassionate and experienced counselling service.

I have been a therapist for 10 years, working with MIND in my early years of training and in private practice and at the The Priory Chelmsford since 2009 to 2014 where I was instrumental in writing and implementing individual and group work for both short and long term therapy for both the in-patient and day patient programmes. This has given me a wealth of experience in working with conditions that range from depression, anxiety and phobias to the more complex conditions such as Personality Disorders and dependency/addiction issues. I have also worked extensively with Obsessive Compulsive disorder (OCD), trauma, Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), schema therapy, pain, adjustment disorders such as break down of relationship, redundancy, adoption, miscarriage, disabilities, pregnancy and birth, learning difficulties and postnatal depression.

I offer both 1-1 therapy and group work for those who would benefit from interaction with others with similar problems and have need of longer term therapy.

I work integratively, however my principal approaches and passions are : -

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT)
Schema Therapy/Life Traps
Mindfulness

(Dialectic/Dialectical Behavioural Therapy is structured therapy for clients with Personality Disorders including BPD. It covers four modules: Emotional Regulation, Distress Tolerance, Interpersonal Effectiveness, Core Mindfulness Training.)

I work within NICE guidelines which incorporates measures to ensure that you are receiving the right therapy for you. In other words, I do not believe in forcing you into a jacket that does not fit as this would be forever uncomfortable. I offer an extensive assessment to gain a full understanding of your presenting problems and their origins.

I am an Accredited Member of BACP – MBACP(Accred.) – and am bound by their Code of Ethics.
