About me
I am a Yorkshire trained Consultant Dermatologist with over 15 years clinical experience in dermatology.
I graduated as a medical doctor from Leeds University and during my medical degree I decided to undertake an additional degree in pharmacology gaining a BSc Pharm. Having become a doctor in 1999 I then went on to become a member of the Royal College of Physicians in 2003. I started my training in dermatology in 2004 before completing my dermatology training in 2008.
During my training I gained a thorough understanding of dermatological conditions such as acne, eczema, psoriasis, skin allergy and skin cancer. Other than treating these conditions medically I have also qualified to perform skin surgery and have performed over 1,500 skin surgery procedures. I regularly perform audits of my own work to ensure quality and safety in the services that I deliver and I am clinical lead of dermatology within the Mid Yorks NHS dermatology department.
Within my NHS practice I am the lead for patch testing but DO NOT undertake patch testing privately.
I take an active role in education, teaching both trainees in dermatology, junior doctors and medical students. I have also previously served as an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Leeds University Medical School where, other than examining students, I also provide a pastoral role in mentoring students guiding them through their early years at university.
I am a member of the British Association of Dermatologists, the British society of contact allergy and the British Cosmetic Dermatology Group.
