About me
Anish Amin’s private practice is dedicated to the treatment of knee, ankle and foot problems and mirrors his NHS consultant practice at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.
He has a special interest in joint preservation surgery of the knee, aimed at avoiding or delaying the need for knee replacement. It involves procedures such as knee arthroscopy (keyhole surgery), cartilage repair procedures or knee osteotomy (joint realignment surgery). In patients not suitable for joint preservation surgery, he also performs knee replacement, including robotic-assisted (MAKO) partial and total knee replacement. He is also a consultant member of the internationally renowned orthopaedic trauma department at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, with an interest in lower limb trauma and complex foot and ankle injuries.
Anish graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 1999. He trained in Edinburgh and Melbourne, completing three specialist fellowships in knee surgery, foot and ankle surgery and joint replacement. His research interests are in osteoarthritis and cartilage injuries. He was awarded a PhD by the University of Edinburgh in 2011. He has been appointed as an NRS Clinician (www.nhsresearchscotland.org.uk) to lead clinical research within NHS Lothian. He is an educational and clinical supervisor for the South-East Scotland Orthopaedic Surgical Training Programme. He is an Honorary Senior Lecturer for the University of Edinburgh Medical School.
