About me

Mr Ertan Erel is a Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon working privately In the London and Brighton area. He was a full-time NHS consultant at University Hospitals of North Midlands until April 2023.

He graduated from Aegean University, Izmir, Turkey and worked in the Turkish National Health Service before moving to UK. He completed his junior surgical training in East Yorkshire. He has performed a year of full-time research within the field of plastic surgery and was awarded the degree of Master of Science by the University College London.

He has completed his plastic surgery training in West Midlands Region. His fellowships include cosmetic surgery in Istanbul and microsurgery in Gent, Izmir and Cambridge.

His special interests included the NHS breast reconstruction, with particular emphasis on the perforator-free flap (DIEP flap) in the microsurgical reconstruction of the breast, rhinoplasty and skin cancer.

He has an extensive research portfolio, having published 26 papers in peer-reviewed journals and 48 presentations at both national and international meetings. Mr Erel is a member of the editorial board for the Turkish Plastic Surgery Journal.
