About me

Mr Naren Basu is the former Clinical Lead of Breast Services at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Good Hope Hospital and Solihull Hospital. His specialist area is exclusively breast disease, breast cancer surgery and all breast related problems. As an Oncoplastic Surgeon, he integrates plastic surgery techniques into breast cancer surgery to preserve and enhance aesthetic outcomes without compromising disease control.

Research interests

Research profile includes risk-reducing surgery and familial breast cancer. Completed doctoral thesis (MD degree) investigating Contralateral Breast Cancer in high-risk patients (including BRCA1/2 mutation carriers). Publishes and presents research work at a national and international level. Active trainer participating in teaching plastic surgeons and breast surgeons at a national and local level.

Personal interests

Naren has benefited from a diverse up-bringing having lived in Zambia, been educated in the UK with the majority of his training in London. He is excited by his recent move to the Midlands where he hopes to spend time outside work with his young family. He is participating in the Birmingham Fun Run to raise money for Ladies Fighting Breast Cancer appeal and hopes that this worthy cause will rekindle his love for outdoor sports including cricket, golf and football.
