About me

I am a BPS Chartered and HCPC Registered Clinical Psychologist with additional training and many years experience of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. I also have some training and experience using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy as well as mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, which both complement a more traditional Cognitive Behaviour Therapy approach. I have over 15 years experience working with children and families in the NHS and private sector. My NHS experience has been in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, working with children suffering from anxiety, low mood, low self-esteem and anger problems. I also have a number of years' experience working in the field of chronic pain and chronic fatigue with adults and children, as well as having taken the role of lead clinician in a service for children with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour.
I have been a guest lecturer at the University of Hertfordshire Clinical Psychology Doctoral Training Course and have regularly supervised and taught other psychologists and mental health workers as part of my work.

My practice is very much influenced by attachment and social learning models of child development as well as using cognitive behaviour therapy, ACT and mindfulness approaches to help children cope with the struggles of modern life. I focus on helping families understand the emotional reasons underlying their children’s difficulties rather than just changing behaviour, and my priority is always to help children and parents develop the warm, responsive and positive relationships that provide the foundations for self-esteem and emotional wellbeing from infancy to adolescence.
