About me

Elise Stephen is a skilled and experienced Consultant Clinical Psychologist. She has extensive training and experience in third-wave therapies such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT). In March 2018 she became an accredited DBT Therapist. In June 2024 she became a Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) practitioner. Elise graduated in 2007 from the University of Western Australia, and then worked within both the public and private sectors in Australia. Her drive to excel in her work led me her to emigrate from Australia to the United Kingdom in 2011. Elise received a statement of equivalence deeming her credentials to be equivalent to a UK doctoral degree, allowing her to gain Chartered status with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and register with the HCPC.

Since arriving in the UK, Elise has spent the last 14 years working within forensic and mental health inpatient settings, undertaking highly complex clinical work as well as helping systems to become more psychologically minded. For the past 5 years she has worked in a low secure CAMHS inpatient setting. She has been influenced by systemic and relational theories, and believes that building a solid relationship is at the core of all successful endeavours, be that direct clinical work or working with systems.
