About me
I am a skilled and experienced Clinical Psychologist, registered with the Health Professionals Council (HCPC). I am passionate about working collaboratively with clients and I believe that every individual is an expert on their own life and situation. I feel privileged to be able to assist clients' in the process of developing the insight and skills to improve their lives. I work from the premise that every client deserves an individualised approach to suit their unique needs.
My passion and drive to excel in my work led me to emigrate from Australia to the United Kingdom in 2011 to continue to broaden my skills and experience in psychological theory, evidence and practice in one of the most vibrant cities in the world. I received a statement of equivalence deeming her credentials equivalent to a UK doctoral degree, allowing me to gain Chartered status with the British Psychological Society (BPS), the Society’s highest membership accolade.
I work within an esteemed London-based private practice, treating clients’ with presenting problems inherent in high-pressured city working. I work with relational issues such as interpersonal difficulties, from a Cogntive Analytic Therapy (CAT) therapeutic model.
I also ave a keen interest in providing third-wave therapies such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), DBT and mindfulness. I have extensive training and experience in Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT). I also completed ACT training to an advanced level with Dr Russ Harris in Australia. I recently (March 2018) became accredited in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy with the Society for DBT, UK & Ireland. There are only 44 professionals accredited currently across the UK and Ireland.
I also work as a Principal Clinical Psychologist within a secure hospital, and within this setting I have set up a state of the art DBT inpatient unit, of which I am clinical lead, providing supervision and training as well as holding a clinical role.
I have been influenced by relational, systemic and psychodynamic theories, and I believe that a solid therapeutic relationship is at the core of all successful therapy endeavours. I am flexible and well-informed regarding evidence-based treatments and can therefore assist clients to find the best possible approach to address their problems. I have worked in many settings where interventions need to be time-limited, focused and effective. I am passionate about developing honest and genuine relationships with clients to facilitate positive treatment effects as early as the first meeting.
