About me

I am a Consultant Plastic, Reconstructive & Hand Surgeon. I studied at medical school in Newcastle upon Tyne, before pursuing basic surgical training in Yorkshire. I was then appointed to the prestigious Leeds/Manchester Plastic Surgery Registrar Training scheme where I spent 6 years developing my clinical skills and undertaking an MPhil research degree in peripheral nerve injury at the University of Manchester.
After my higher plastic surgery training was completed, I returned to Leeds to develop my interest in paediatric and microsurgical upper limb surgery, which culminated in being part of the surgical team which performed the first hand transplant in the UK in December 2012. I entered the GMC Specialist Register for Plastic Surgery in February 2013
I then travelled to Adelaide, Australia, where I spent 12 months as senior registrar at the Flinders Medical Centre. I was able to develop all aspects of my plastic surgery experience, including major trauma reconstruction, hand and nerve surgery, microsurgical reconstruction of the complex wound, skin cancer management, breast reconstruction and body contouring surgery.
Since returning to the UK in February 2014, I have worked as Consultant Plastic, Reconstructive & Hand Surgeon at Wythenshawe Hospital, Manchester. My areas of interest are described above, but I particularly enjoy microsurgical and complex limb reconstruction in both adults and children.
I am Clinical Lead for the Department of Burns and Plastic Surgery in Manchester, Chair of the Plastic Surgery training Committee for the North West of England, and I sit on the Specialty Advisory Committee which organises training in Plastic Surgery nationally.
