About me
Dr Harjinder Singh BM BS MSc (SEM) FFSEM (UK) is a Consultant in Sport & Exercise Medicine, based in Leicester. He has a substantive NHS post based at Leicester General Hospital. He has also previously worked in orthopaedics and rheumatology.
He has vast experience of elite athlete care at both national and international level. Locally, he is club doctor at Leicestershire County Cricket Club, and a medical officer at Derby County and Burton and FA Wales. He is works in professional boxing as a sports physician. He works with GB Boxing and will be going to the Paris Olympics next year. He is medical advisor to PGMOL, Professional Game Match Officials Limited. He assesses athletes who have medical support through the Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS) and the Professional Footballer’s Association (PFA). He provides second opinions in challenging cases in professional sport.
He is a tutor for the FA for pitchside immediate care and teaches musculoskeletal ultrasound at the AECC University College Bournemouth. He has previously worked with Wasps Rugby, Leicester Tigers and Leicester City, Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club,Nottingham Forest FC, England and Wales Cricket Board and the FA.
His interests centre on the optimisation of non-operative treatment of musculoskeletal conditions and has interest in new non-operative interventional treatments. With his previous orthopaedic experience, he is aware of the orthopaedic surgery interface. He treats refractory tendinopathies with novel therapies such as dry needling, extracorporeal shockwave therapy, autologous blood, PRP and hyaluronic acid injections. He manages osteoarthritis non-operatively, particularly of the knee with viscoupplementation and PRP injections. He performs a wide repertoire of guided injections of joints and soft tissues including the above procedures, cortisone injections and also hydrodilation procedures.
