About me

I(Mr Mohammad Abdul Bari) am a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises in all aspects of knee surgery and also primary hip replacement. My NHS practice is based at Tameside General Hospital near Manchester

My knee practice covers all aspects of knee surgery, from SPORTS injuries to ARTHRITIS of the knee. I performs arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery, cruciate ligament reconstruction and both total and partial knee replacements. My specialist areas of interest include cruciate ligament injuries,cartilage injuries, osteochondral defect resurfacing and tendinopathies around the knee.

I graduated from Calcutta and started postgraduate training in England in 1990.I had extensive training in Trauma And Orthopaedics in the UK. .My specialist interest has always been the practice of knee surgery and joint replacements.
I am a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, a member of the British Association for Surgery of the Knee, the British Orthopaedic Association,American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons and founder member of the British Indian Orthopaedic Society(BIOS)

Throughout my career, I have regularly been involved in research, audit and teaching. I have presented his research in publications and at national and international meetings.
At Tameside , I have been the Audit Lead and contributed to the improvement of elective services.
I am also a Royal college examiner and Royal College Tutor.I train orthopaedic specialist registrars from the northwest deanery.
I have been regularly appraised and revalidated .
