About me

I qualified as a Doctor of Clinical Psychology (DClin Psy) in 2005 from the University of Sheffield. This included rigorous academic and clinical training over 3 years of full-time study and placements. I also hold a 1st Class (Hons) degree in Psychology and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Cognitive Analytic Therapy.

I have over 20 years’ experience of working in mental health across a range of settings, including secure hospitals, community psychotherapy services, and in physical health specialties. I have worked with people who have been struggling with psychological difficulties, often for many years. These difficulties have included anxiety, depression, habits and addictions, relationship difficulties, post-traumatic stress, histories of having suffered physical, emotional and sexual abuse, and personality difficulties.

I worked in the National Health Service (NHS) for 10 years before moving into the independent sector. I then worked as a senior manager and Head of Department in one of the UK’s largest independent sector providers of secure mental health services. In 2014, I set up my own private clinical psychology practice based in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. This has meant I have been able to operate in a flexible and responsive way that is driven by the principles, aims and ethics of my profession.

I now specialise in working with people who have suffered traumas in their life and continue to struggle with the effects of these, including ‘symptoms’ (anxiety, low mood, etc) and more general difficulties that impact on areas of their lives, such as relationships or just day-to-day functioning. However, the extent of the training and experience I have means I can apply knowledge and expertise to helping people who experience a range of psychological difficulties.
