About me

After completing a Masters in Social Work at Edinburgh University I worked in a wide range of settings: secure units for young people; a residential home for ex-offenders; a drug rehab unit; a homelessness project; various residential homes for people with learning difficulties and also as part of the Emergency Duty Team for Edinburgh Social Services. I then spent a couple of years as a co-facilitator for the Edinburgh Education Department co-ordinating activities for children who had been excluded from school.

After graduating I worked for 5 years as a Care Manager within a specialist secondary care mental health team at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital which was where I became more interested in psychology.

Moving to Northumberland in 2001 I was appointed to manage a homelessness project in Northumberland and at the same time I completed a degree in psychology at Newcastle University.

After graduating in psychology I worked as a graduate primary care mental health worker in secondary care and started to use cognitive behavioural therapy on an individual basis as well as deliver psycho-educational courses.

After moving to Somerset in 2007 I applied for a post as an Assistant Psychologist in Neuropsychology and worked with an Older Adults Team before moving on to complete the Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) postgraduate training in CBT at Exeter University.

I went on to become an NHS manager in psychological therapies but more recently I have decided that my primary interest is in therapy rather than management.

I am now taking private clients. If you think I can help you please contact me on 07990 741 480 or
