About me
Dr Jarman is a cardiologist specialising in the treatment of atrial fibrillation and other heart rhythm disturbances. Based at the Royal Brompton Hospital, he performs complex ablation and device implantation procedures.
In consulting rooms he sees patients for palpitations and dizzy spells, as well as other possible cardiac symptoms such as breathlessness or chest pains.
As well as investigating and treating patients with hypertension and angina, he sees patients with all types of fast and slow heart rhythm disturbances, and those with heart failure requiring implantable device therapy. He has a particular interest in the management of atrial fibrillation (AF).
He performs a wide range of interventional procedures, specialising in complex ablation therapy for all cardiac arrhythmias, and particularly AF ablation. He also implants pacemakers, defibrillators (ICDs) and biventricular pacemakers to provide cardiac resynchronisation therapy for heart failure.
Dr Jarman studied medicine at Cambridge University (MBBS, MA), St Mary’s Hospital at Imperial College London, and Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA. He undertook specialist fellowship training in interventional cardiac electrophysiology and complex pacing at several leading London teaching hospitals. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP) and has certification examinations in both Invasive Cardiac Electrophysiology and Cardiac Pacing & ICDs from the European Heart Rhythm Association.
During his post-graduate doctorate of medicine (MD) at the National Heart & Lung Institute he developed novel techniques for ablation of atrial fibrillation using noncontact mapping.
He is currently Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer in Clinical Cardiology at the National Heart & Lung Institute, Imperial College London, regularly teaching advanced interventional techniques to visiting foreign fellows and consultants.
