About me
Abideen Akinloye BSc PT, MSc, MCSP
Abideen was the lead physiotherapist for orthopaedics and Trauma in Basildon and Thurrock University Hospital (BTUH) NHS FT. He held this post until he changed from full time employee at the BTUH to part time. He is currently the Therapist Lead at Uplands Rehabilitation Centre at Southend. He still holds his post as one the Specialist Physiotherapist in the Pain Management Service.
Abideen Akinloye graduated from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria College with a second class honours Bachelor of Medical Rehabilitation (BMR) degree in 1989. After completing National Youth Service in 1990, he worked with Maiduguri Teaching Hospital till August 1993. He worked as a Senior Resident Physiotherapist at a private clinic. In 1995, he joined the OAU as a Graduate assistant. On completion of his MSc (PT) degree in 1998, he was appointed a Lecturer in Physiotherapy until 2000 when he left Nigeria for the UK. He came to England to work as a Chartered Physiotherapist in the NHS. He was appointed a senior specialist physiotherapist at BTUH in October 2004. He became interested in chronic pain management and joined the pain team in June 2009. He has attended many training programmes to equip himself in the current trends in the management of pain. While in Academics, he participated in research in the field of Physiotherapy. In collaboration with his colleagues, he was actively involved in publications of some articles in Nigeria as well as in overseas journals. His main research area is electrotherapy and pain management and hand therapy. He also attended Pain Management Module at the Anglia Ruskin University. He is a member of the British Medical Acupuncture Society.
Abideen established Scope Physiotherapy Clinic in 2013. He is the Proprietor of the clinic as well as the Functional Restoration Physiotherapist in chronic pain condition.
