About me
Mr Samer Hamada is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon with 27 years' experience in ophthalmology, and the only consultant in the UK with dual fellowship training in paediatric cornea, ocular surface, cataract and refractive surgery.
He previously served as Consultant and Clinical Lead at the internationally renowned Corneoplastic Unit and Eye Bank at Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead, alongside his private practice in London, Surrey and Sussex. He also holds an honorary consultant position at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children.
Mr Hamada specialises in complex corneal and ocular surface disease in both adults and children, including managing advanced paediatric cases from newborns onwards. He has performed numerous corneal grafts in infants and young children and regularly receives referrals from across the UK for challenging corneal, cataract and refractive cases.
With a strong commitment to clinical innovation, Mr Hamada remains actively involved in research and education. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, contributed to leading ophthalmology textbooks, and is a reviewer for several high-impact journals. He lectures internationally and trains surgeons worldwide in advanced corneal transplantation and refractive techniques.
Mr Hamada is the Founder and Medical Director of Eye Clinic London and London Cataract Centre, and Founder of London Children's Eye Clinic � a multidisciplinary paediatric ophthalmology service.
Patients and colleagues value his expertise, integrity, and compassionate approach to care. Outside his clinical work, he supports charitable ophthalmic initiatives both in the UK and overseas.
