About me
I am a specialist upper limb surgeon with expertise in shoulder, elbow, and complex upper limb trauma surgery, and non-surgical treatments for upper limb soft tissue conditions (tendinopathies). Keyhole (arthroscopic) surgery and joint replacement form a core component of my service.
I have been a full time Consultant in Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust for 12 years, having completed a prestigious London orthopaedic training scheme and further specialist training in Cambridge. In the pursuit of excellence and to equip myself with the most up to date knowledge and skills, I have enhanced my skills by learning from world class upper limb experts in Florida, New York at the Hospital for Special Surgery and Mount Sinai Hospital, and centres of excellence in Mumbai, India, Switzerland and France. I have been the recipient of national awards during the course of my training & post of Consultant.
I have been involved in educational instruction throughout my professional career, from bedside teaching to lecturing at international meetings and was 2019 East of England Orthopaedic and 2022 NE Thames Trainer of The Year, as well as finalist for National Trauma & Orthopaedic Trainer of the Year 2019. I have also won multiple awards as an Affiliated Assistant Professor to the University of Cambridge School of Medicine. I have been previously been Director Education for the Higher Surgical Trainees in the East of England Deanery.
In addition to being a member of the Orthopaedic Data Evaluation Panel (ODEP - http://www.odep.org.uk/ODEPProcess/PanelMembers.aspx) for shoulder arthroplasty, I am also faculty for & convene national courses on shoulder and elbow trauma and arthroplasty.
With the aims of continually improving orthopaedic practice, patient outcomes and experience, I have collaborated in numerous high level randomised controlled studies with national UK experts from the fields of shoulder and elbow surgery.
I have numerous peer reviewed publications and presentations on a wide range of orthobiologic, joint replacement, and trauma topics.
I offer outpatient and inpatient services at both the Nuffield Health Cambridge Hospital and the Spire Cambridge Lea Hospital.
