About me
I am a Counselling Psychologist with over 20 years of experience working psychotherapeutically in a range of mental health settings. My aim is to provide a safe and supportive therapeutic space where individuals can explore what distresses them, work through challenges, and find ways of living that feel more congruent with who they are. I work in a relational, exploratory way, inviting reflection on patterns and meaning in people's lives rather than focusing only on symptom reduction or immediate fixes.
I have experience working with adults who present a range of emotional and psychological difficulties including, but not limited to, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, low mood/sadness, loss & bereavement, relationship issues (e.g., difficulty making or sustaining relationships, repeatedly becoming involved in unsatisfying or destructive relationships, divorce), work-related stress and unemployment.
I have worked in a variety of public and private mental health settings. I have also been involved in teaching, training, and supervising counselling psychologists, psychotherapists and counsellors for more than 15 years.
I have been working in private practice since 2006. I offer face-to-face psychological therapy in central London and in Fulham. I also offer therapy online.
How can psychological therapy help
There are times in our lives that we may go through a particularly challenging period (e.g., significant transitions in our life, health issues, losing someone close to us, facing difficulties at our workplace or in our relationship), times that we can feel stuck and overwhelmed. Sometimes, we may be suffering from a form of psychological distress (e.g., depression, anxiety). While other times, we may become aware that we repeat patterns that are detrimental to our well-being without fully realising why we are doing so (e.g., repeatedly choosing intimate partners that do not meet our needs). Psychological therapy offers a way to make sense of our difficulties and reflect on what we can do to better manage them. It can help us express and process our feelings in a safe and supportive space, gain a better understanding of ourselves and our relationships, find more effective strategies to cope with our difficulties, and make choices that enable us to live in ways that are more personally meaningful and fulfilling.
My therapeutic approach
I see therapy as a collaborative exploration, where understanding patterns and relationships supports meaningful change. As a reflective and relational practitioner, I offer a space where individuals can be genuinely heard, and where their experience can be explored and understood with care and curiosity. I consider that every individual has the potential for positive change and personal growth. The key aim of my therapeutic work is to offer you a safe and supportive therapeutic space where we work collaboratively to empower you better manage any difficulties that you are experiencing and to facilitate your journey toward personal growth and well-being.
Being mindful that each person is unique with your own set of life experiences and challenges, I draw on a variety of different therapeutic approaches (including psychodynamic, humanistic, transactional analysis and cognitive-behavioural) to tailor my approach to best suit your needs and goals.
