About me

Dr Foster is a Consultant in Sport, Exercise and Musculoskeletal Medicine. He practices privately at the Blackberry Clinic in Fareham, Hampshire and also as a consultant for the MoD in HMNB Portsmouth running the injury assessment clinic and Regional Rehabilitation Unit for injured servicemen and women across the South Coast region.

Dr Foster treats a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions in both children and adults both from a sporting background and in the general population. He has a particular interest in non-surgical management of osteoarthritis and the psychological effects of chronic pain. He works closely with physiotherapists and pain management physicians to provide a holistic approach to musculoskeletal pain management, using techniques such as diagnostic ultrasound scanning and ultrasound and x-ray guided injections.

Dr Foster trained at the Royal Free Hospital in London, qualifying in 1997 and going on to qualify at a GP before undertaking a full Specialty Registrar training scheme in Sports and Exercise Medicine in Sheffield. He has worked in professional sport as a team physician in County Cricket and Championship football, as well as at the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics. Dr Foster spent many years working in University and School sport including the World Student Games in China 2011 and the UK School Games.

Dr Foster lives locally with his wife and 2 young children and enjoys tennis, cricket and running and can still be seen attempting a Parkrun on a Saturday morning.
