About me
Mr Read is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon, whose practice is dedicated to the treatment of hand and wrist problems, including arthritis, nerve compressions, Dupuytren's contracture and Kienbock's disease.
Mr Jeremy Read qualified from Charing Cross & Westminster Medical school and subsequently underwent orthopaedic training through the South West Thames orthopaedic rotation.
Following general orthopaedic training Mr Read undertook a one-year overseas specialist fellowship, training in hand and microsurgery at Middlemore Hospital, Regional and South Pacific hand unit in Auckland and also a year long UK sub specialist hand fellowship at University College Hospital London.
During his fellowship training Mr Read gained experience in advanced orthopaedic and plastic surgical techniques, the management of hand and wrist injuries as well as degenerative conditions. After completing his fellowship at UCH Mr Read was appointed as a consultant at the West Hertfordshire Hospitals Trust.
Mr Read has published in peer reviewed journals and presented at both national and international meetings. He is also an invited reviewer for journals in hand surgery and sports medicine.
Mr Read is responsible for training higher surgical trainees in the diagnosis and management of hand problems at the West Hertfordshire hospitals trust, and is also a faculty member for courses in hand surgery techniques held nationally. Following advanced training Mr Read has developed expertise in managing both common and complex hand problems, and is particularly interested in developing the use of percutaneous needle fasciotomy as an outpatient-based treatment for Dupuytren's contracture.
