About me

I'm an experienced cataract surgeon with outcomes exceeding national guidelines and requirements. I also have a subspeciality interest in glaucoma.
Originally from Kenya, I came to the UK to complete my school education in 1994 before attending the University of Edinburgh for my medical training.
Following jobs in Accident and Emergency (Leicester) and Neurology (Leeds), I started my ophthalmology training in Devon (Torbay and Exeter Hospitals). I completed my registrar ophthalmic training with posts at Addenbrooke's Hospital (Cambridge) and the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital.
I was clinical lead of the West Suffolk Hospital eye department for 8 years and have completed the NHS Mary Seacole programme with merit (postgraduate certificate in Healthcare leadership.
Along with my partners, we decided to found Newmedica Suffolk as a way to better use the independent sector, to continue to improve patient care and experience by working in collaboration with the local NHS.
I enjoy teaching, and have achieved a Master of Arts (MA) in Medical Education with commendation, and deliver training to a variety of stakeholders to enable shared care.
My family and I enjoy living in Suffolk and I am very proud to be a trustee of Suffolk Sight, an amazing local charity that does a huge amount of work supporting people living with sight loss in Suffolk.
