About me
Charlotte Foley qualified at Oxford University and undertook specialist Urology training at teaching hospitals in North London. For her last two years as a trainee, she focused on her subspecialist interest of reconstructive and ‘female urology’. This meant spending a year at University College London Hospital, then a further Fellowship year at the Royal Brisbane and Womens’ Hospital in Australia. She started as a Consultant in April 2012.
She undertakes all aspects of General Urology with particular expertise in Transperineal prostate biopsy (providing this service across Hertfordshire), Incontinence and Urine infections. Her experience in mesh removal has allowed her NHS Hospital to be recognised as a Mesh removal centre.
Areas of interest
Female incontinence: TVT & TOT, and non-mesh alternatives including bulking agents, colposuspension and autologous (own tissue) slings. Botox for urgency, frequency and incontinence.
Male incontinence: male sling and artificial urinary sphincter,
Problems passing urine in men and women.
Recurrent urinary infections, cystitis, bladder discomfort / pain
Benign prostate enlargement -
Blood in the Urine, superficial bladder cancer, bladder stones. Elevated PSA - I perform all the transperineal biopsies for the Urology department, often sampling lesions missed by previous biopsies. 2nd UK Urologist to perform local anaesthetic transperineal biopsies which are well tolerated.
Scrotal surgery - for lumps inside or on the scrotum, fluid collections around the testis (hydrocele) epididymal cysts.
Renal colic and kidney and ureteric stones.
