About us

Dr Michael Hii graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons, Ireland in 1998 and obtained MRCPCH memberships in 2001. He received general paediatrics and gastroenterology training at London Hospitals. He has worked in tertiary gastroenterology centres including Great Ormond Street Hospital, Royal Free Hospital and Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. He spent a further two years working as Hepatology Clinical Fellow at the Supraregional Liver Centre at King's College Hospital post CCT.
He was the clinical lead in gastroenterology at Royal Alexandra Children's Hospital, a tertiary paediatric gastroenterology centre until Dec 2023. He has been at the hospital since 2012. He is now a part time consultant at the Royal Alexandra Children's Hospital supervising junior consultants in endoscopy and complex cases. The gastroenterology department accepts referrals from the wider Sussex area (St Richards, Worthing, Eastbourne and Conquest Hospitals). He held a locum Consultant Paediatric Gastroenterologist post in Chelsea and Westminster Hospital prior to the appointment of his current post. He also has an MSc in Paediatrics, which was received in 2003 at Birmingham University.
Dr Hii has broad experience in both general paediatrics and gastroenterology. He accepts referrals for both disciplines.

Dr Hii is the founder of Paediatric Healthcare affiliated with children gut clinic. This clinics are supported by experienced consultant paediatric specialists, nurses, paediatric dietician, child psychologist and consultant paediatric radiologists. These clinics offer a variety of in house diagnostic tests including hydrogen breath tests(lactose, sucrose, glucose, fructose, lactulose), skin prick test for food allergies, 24 hour PH study, food challenges and ultrasound.. Additionally, other collaborative investigations including endoscopy (gastroscopy and colonoscopy), radiological investigations (MRI small bowel, transit marker study, barium swallow are carried out in nearby Spire Gatwick and St Anthony's Spire Hospital.
