About me
Hello my name is Julie. I am a qualified, experienced counsellor, offering time and a confidential, safe place where you can explore issues which may be troubling you. I offer you a warm and non-judgemental relationship to help you feel safe enough to embark on your journey of self discovery.
Counselling is about helping you make sense of your thoughts and feelings, so that you can then make decisions about what changes you wish to make in your life. I believe that everyone of us is unique and it is important to me to work with each person as an individual, taking a holistic view on how a person thinks and feels physically, emotionally and psychologically.
Counselling is not a magic cure, but at times it can be difficult to talk to family and friends. Sometimes it can help to talk to someone you do not know, who is trained to listen. Counselling can help improve self-confidence and self-esteem, or to provide support during difficult times.
I have worked in private practice for 15 years. I am the Service Manager for a bereavement counselling service based within a hospital setting. I am an Associate Counsellor for Carefirst, Health Assured working with the Employee Assistant Programme (EAP). I spent 5 years lecturing at Derby College delivering the Counselling Concepts course to adult learners.
