Consultant Burns, Plastic and Laser Surgeon
Professor Shokrollahi is a Consultant Plastic Surgeon, Chairman of the Katie Piper Foundation, Editor-in-Chief of the Journal Scars, Burns & Healing, and Associate Editor of Annals of Plastic Surgery.
Professor Shokrollahi is at the forefront of research and development into new technologies to treat a range of conditions ranging from skin cancer to burns and scarring such as:
-Diagnosis and management of a range of skin lesions
- Pioneering laser and photodynamic therapy (PDT) and treatments for non-melanoma skin cancers to avoid surgery and minimise scarring, for which he has international expertise
- Burns and Scar rehabilitation
- Non-surgical treatment of skin conditions ranging from benign skin lesions, moles, acne and acne scars, rhinophyma and xanthelasma.
- Treatment of scars and burns
Prof Shokrollahi graduated from Bristol University with both a Bachelor of Science degree with first class honours in Cellular and Molecular Pathology and a degree in Medicine. He went on to graduate with both a Master of Science degree in Clinical Engineering and also a Master of Law degree having developed a specific interest in consent for medical treatment and the ethics and law related to patient-centred care. He became a Hunterian Professor of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2007 and gained his specialist fellowship diploma in plastic surgery FRCS (Plast) in 2009. He has a strong academic and research interest having published over sixty scientific research articles, dozens of book chapters and a number of textbooks. He lectures nationally and internationally.
