About me
Dr Shilpan Patel's core radiological training took place on the Imperial College rotation, where he acquired a solid foundation in all aspects of diagnostic radiology. During this time that he developed an interest in oncological imaging and subsequently spent 18 months at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre, undertaking sub-speciality fellowship in this field.
During his fellowship, Dr Patel gained invaluable multimodality experience in the imaging features of a wide variety of malignancies throughout their disease course, using CT, MRI and PET-CT. He also became proficient in the use of multiparametric MRI, gaining practical experience in newer functional MRI techniques, and developed an interest in various abdominal and pelvic malignancies.
Dr Patel is the lead radiologist for upper and lower gastrointestinal malignancy and Uroradiology for West Herts Hospitals NHS Trust and the Mount Vernon Cancer Network. He is also lead radiologist at WHHT for the Bowel Cancer Sceening Program.
Dr Patel regularly undertakes targeted liver and renal biopsies and thyroid sampling.
Dr Patel also has an active interest in medical education at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels
