Anxious? Phobic? Depressed? Chronic pain?. You may bring a variety of problems, including bereavement, post traumatic stress, relationship difficulties, both in the workplace and in your personal life, the emotional aspects of health issues, habit difficulties such as alcohol and drug abuse, and childhood abuse.
As well as my own private practice, seeing individuals and couples, I have worked in agencies that deal with families of homicide victims, adults abused as children and alcohol/substance abuse. I also work with employee assistance programme companies both with individual employees and I give on-site support to staff where there has been a traumatic incident.
How I work: sessions can be time limited using Brief Solution Focused with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, or longer term, including Eye Movement Desensitisation Processing for such difficulties as pain management and trauma. EMDR is recognised in the NHS' NICE Guidelines as a treatment for trauma.
The first session is for us both to assess whether we feel we could work together and if we feel that the work could be promising, then further sessions may be booked. Together we might find the answers to your difficulties by giving you the space to reflect and to provide you with the tools to help you turn your life round - and to begin to feel better!
Areas of interest
Post traumatic stress; Childhood abuse and attachment issues; employee problems such as long term sickness; chronic pain management; fear of driving/being driven; substance and alcohol abuse; bereavement, including victims of crime.
I use Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR), Solution Focused and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) as well as Emotional Freedom Technique to support the therapeutic procedure with these issues.
