About me

Prof R Sidhu graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin, Ireland with honours. She did her specialist gastroenterology training in Sheffield and a period of research and a further degree (MD) with the University of Sheffield. She provides gastroenterology consultations for a variety of problems including change in bowel habit, irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease, gastro- oesophageal reflux disease, anaemia, coeliac disease etc. She also performs gastroscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy and colonoscopy.
Prof Sidhu is the first female gastroenterologist to have ever been awarded the Hopkins Endoscopy prize in 2012 by the British Society of Gastroenterology, for her work in small bowel endoscopy.
She is part of the curricula group of the European Society of gastroenterology and devised a curriculum for training in small bowel endoscopy.
She was conferred an honorary chair by the University of Sheffield Nov 2018. She also led a position statement on the use of proposal sedation for complex endoscopy in the UK which is endorsed by the BSG, RcoA and JAG.
