About me

About Me

Sonu qualified in Medicine from the University of Manchester in 1996. Her post graduate training was at the Royal Free Hospital London and University College London. This involved working at leading Eating Disorder treatment centres in London with many renowned experts in the field.
Sonu became a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 2001. She completed her training in 2003 before taking a post as a consultant in the NHS.
In 2006 Sonu was appointed a consultant psychiatrist specialising in Eating Disorders at the Priory. She was elected to the executive Royal College of Psychiatrists Executive committee in 2011 where she advised on national policy making for 3 years. In 2012 she was appointed to the role of national Clinical Director for Eating Disorders for the Priory. This involved leadership of the 12 eating disorder units across the country.
Sonu is the Clinical lead for the unit where she is based in Manchester and has 17 years experience working on an inpatient, daycare and outpatient setting treating patients with Eating Disorders.

Sonu has been part of writing several national eating disorder documents and policies including MEED which is the Management of Medical Emergencies in Eating Disorders.
