Mr Vijay Savant
MRCOphth, FRCS (Ed), MS, DOMS, MBBS
Mr Vijay Savant is a Consultant Ophthalmologist at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust with a sub- speciality interest in Cornea and external eye disease. He is a highly expereienced surgeon specialising in cataract micro- incision surgery, toric and multifocal lens implant, corneal transplants, Intacs, corneal collagen cross-linkage and laser refractive surgery. He is one of the few surgeons in the country performing latest endothelial corneal transplant surgery.
He has presented in national and international meetings and has published in peer reviewed journals. His current research interest is in acanthamoeba keratitis.
Mr Savant completed his ophthalmology higher speciality training at the prestigious Birmingham and Midland Eye Centre. He further trained as a corneal specialist at Birmingham and Leicester. He was awarded Certificate of completion of Specialist Training in December 2007.
